The beautiful city of Broome and surroundings

After one day of rest in Derby we cycled the 220km to Broome within two days. Verena was still with us, so we even had some good conversations while cycling. In Broome we could stay with some amazing hosts Verena met on the Gibb River Road. It felt like holidays: having a bed, a bathroom, a room with AC, a pool and a proper kitchen. We could sleep in every days and even after sunrise it did not even get too hot. The first two nights we went to two different parts of Cable Beach for sunset and had some chairs and cold beres with us. Jonas' Birthday was also a realxed day with cake and candles in the moring and some great Kaiserschmarrn (thanks Verena). We also did a camel ride at Cable Beach which we got for free in exchange for some drone footage - nice. It was really cool to sit on the camel, walk that slowly and bouncing around while enjoying the sunset.

Our timing was perfect as it was also just the right time to see the staircaises to the moon for the last time of the year. There you can see the full moon rise over the marshlands on low tide, creating a reflection of the moon and an appearance of a staircase to the moon. Our favourite spot in Broome was probably Reddell Beach and we spent two evenings walking along there and taking photos at sunset. The tidal difference at that time was almost 10m, which meant that at some point it was like walking on a reef between the shells, crabs and corals. At the end of our stay we were lucky and hitched a ride upcoast to James Price Point and some places around there. The colours of red rock, blue sea and green plants were just amazing. With the bikes we wouldn't have been able to go up there because of all the sandy roads. On the weekend our hosts Nicky and Ben even took us out in their boat to go crabbing and we found some amazing mud crabs that made some great lunch!

For the next couple of hundred kilometers we managed to get a ride with a lady traveling in her old school bus, because a lot of Aussies told us that this stretch between Broome and Port Hedland is the most boring road in Australia. Within just a few days we made our way to the beautiful Karijini Nationalpark but that is another video. ;-)

Cheers and all the best from Australia,
Joni, Droni, and Vroni :)
